The bomb squad robot, at the Lego competition | The displays for the different teams | The bomb robot up close | Debra and a couple of other Teaching Parents Assoc. moms organized the kids | The team, the Lego Knights, assembled this entry for the competition | Our kids are in the youngest age group, and at that level they don’t actually compete. But the older kids definitely do. |
There was a theme, having to do with medical stuff | For some reason, a lot of the medical-themed displayed involved dentists | Here, our boys listen to the presentation this team member gives for their display | The high school kids were there too. They are much-better funded. ☺ | They’ve got fancy digital controls, joysticks, and their robot even has those cool omni-directional wheels | Innaias enjoyed wandering around looking at all the other projects |
Most of the lights on this robot seemed gratuitous, but only in a good way ☺ | One of the judges listens to Flynn explain their project | This judge dropped by to listen, and then explained when we asked about the results, that they don’t provide feedback | After all the judges had visited our display, we had some time before the “awards” | The competition was being held at a school, and we headed out to the playground | It was quite cold that day, but the kids didn’t seem to notice |
